10 Year Anniversary!

Last week, Andy and I celebrated our tenth anniversary. We got to spend a couple of nights at a hotel in Indianapolis, while Grandpa Dan and Grandma Linda spoiled the kids. :) We had a great time. Please enjoy a few highlights from our life together. Blast from the past! I couldn't figure out how to make this picture bigger, but it was the oldest one I found of us as a couple. This picture was from the 4th of July after we started dating in 1997. We got engaged the following September.

June 20, 1998 - We got married in Evansville, Indiana at Faith Church of the Nazarene. This is one of the few pictures that survived, thanks to technological difficulties on the photographer's part.

This is from around our first anniversary. I was going to get our picture taken every year, but that only lasted two years. It's not much fun, until kiddos come along!

I just like this picture of us. I think it was taken around a year before Marcus was born, so we were married almost four years.

And baby makes 3! We were 26 years old and married 4 1/2 years, but I think we still look like kids holding that tiny little bundle. Boy, if I could just go back and tell those two what they're about to get themselves into!

Family Hiking Trip

On Friday, we all went hiking at Shades State Park near Crawfordsville. Yep, even Josie. We all had a lot of fun. Josie enjoyed her ride on mommy's belly. She kicked and giggled the whole time. She even took a nap while we climbed around the rocks!

Marcus was quite the little explorer. He and daddy showed mommy how it was done. He was so excited for all of us to be there, finding cool things to look at. One thing I learned, the harder the trail, the better Marcus likes it!

Beautiful weather, great scenery, awesome family. What a great day!

Random Josie Pictures

I wanted to take a couple of pictures of Josie in some of the outfits that I really like on her.

This is actually the outfit that Josie came home from the hospital in. She looks so big in it now! I can't believe she has graduated out of the newborn size.

I love the brown and pink combination. We got this dress at our church baby shower from one of our friends.

Josie's favorite spot for napping is her swing. This is pretty much the only place she'll sleep during the day, unless we're driving and she falls asleep in the carseat. She's been doing great at night, though. She's slept from 9pm to 7am for the last 4 nights! Also, as you can see, she isn't into her pacifiers the way Marcus was. She just loves those fingers!

Josie's dedication

Josie's dedication was on Sunday, April 20th at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Danville. It was the first baby dedication that our church has had in a while, and everyone was really excited!. Reverend Don Garrett of UUI performed the ceremony. About 20 of our friends and family were able to come from out of town. After the service, we all went to the Mayberry for lunch. It was a really good day!

This pretty girl really needs a nap! She was awake all day being passed around by admirers. At 3 pm, after everyone left, she fell asleep and slept for the next 16 hours. She did wake up about three times to eat, then it was right back to bed!

Birthdays Everywhere!

March and April have been so busy! I have gone back to work. Marcus is in soccer and preschool. We've had Easter and Isabelle's dedication. Josie will be dedicated this weekend, and there is a birthday everytime we turn around!

Grandpa Dan's birthday was March 15th. He got to spend his birthday in Hilton Head!

Our new cousin Isabelle turned one on March 21st. She had a great party and Easter egg hunt.

Papaw had his 50th birthday on March 28th. We threw him a surprise party. He never saw it coming!

Macee's 6th birthday was April 7th. Another great party!

And last, but not least, today is Nana's birthday! Happy birthday Nana, we'll see you this weekend!

Round two is getting ready to start. By the end of May, we'll have 4 more birthdays in the family and Mother's Day! Should be fun!

Marcus joined a peewee baseball team at the end of March. Unfortunately, our schedules and baby Josie made us decide that we should maybe try again next season. Marcus sure was a cute little outfielder, while it lasted!

We went to 3 Easter egg hunts this year. We went to Danville Park for one of them and it was about 35 degrees and drizzling rain! Too cold to take pictures. We also had one at our church and one after Isabelle's birthday party. Here are a few highlights

Josie had her 1 month doctor appointment today. She is changing so fast!

Hey dad, does this diaper make me look fat?

I guess in this case, the camera doesn't add ten pounds. Josie weighs 8lb 7oz, which puts her in the 25th percentile. She's gained just under 2 pounds! Her length was just under 21 inches, in the 50th percentile. Doesn't she look proud of herself?

I think daddy's trying to explain why she's the only one who has to sit in this cold room without any clothes on. Looks like she already has him wrapped around her little finger, don't you think?

Children's Museum

On Tuesday, Marcus and Mommy went on a date to the Children's Museum. Usually, Daddy gets the honors. This time, he stayed home with Josie.

Marcus was excited to show me the Curious George exhibit. We stayed there for hours. Amazingly, we were in the museum for 4 hours and never made it to the Dinosaur exhibit. I think that's a first!

While we were playing, we ran into a friend from church. This is Marcus and Julian playing with the robots. They had a lot of fun playing while mommy got to talk to Julian's mommy, Beth.

More Josie Pics...Finally

I (Heather) finally learned how to post on the blog! This is my first attempt at updating pictures. Hope you like them as much as we do.

I love this picture! Marcus still thinks his baby sister is pretty cool. He is always saying things like "Awwww, cute little thing." I can tell she's going to love him, too. She has smiled at him a few times. Of course, the smiles don't stay long enough to find the camera.

Marcus and cousin Macee took a break from some serious playing to have a photo op with the newest family member. Macee is thrilled that the girls outnumber the boys 4 to 3, now.

Josie has been screaming more then we would like, lately. We've been experimenting with different formulas to find something that agrees with her belly. In the meantime, I discovered that this is her favorite position when she is fussy. The left hand supports her belly and chest while right hand pats her bottom. Weird, I know, but I'll do whatever keeps her happy for 15 minutes at a time! We've also had some success holding her in a Snugli, and turning on the hairdryer. Babies are such complex little creatures.

All dressed up for company. We had a little tour of the grandparents this past weekend. Josie had to look her best! Anyway that's the excuse I used for putting a bow and a pair of shoes on my 3 week old. :)

Train Expo 2008

This past Sunday, Marcus and I (This is Dad speaking) went to the Train Expo at the Indianapolis Fairgrounds. It was way cool. Here are a few pics.

This train was a big one. We watched it for quite a while.

The little scenes the operators put together were amazing.

I loved the diner on this one.

This one (same as in the next two photos) was part of a huge setup made completely of legos. It took the people three years to make it.

New Baby Registry

Children's Museum Holiday Visit

These are a few pics from our Tuesday visit to the Children's Museum. Their Holiday stuff is lots of fun.

Marcus beat Heather down the Yule Slide by at least a full second. I see a career as a slide racer in his future.

We thought maybe a little extra weight would help, but Marcus beat Dad by two seconds.

Marcus' favorite room was the cookie-baking room. They had a giant toy oven and all kinds of rubber cookies. They even piped in cookie scent.

Of course, for the Preschool Paleontologist, no visit to the Children's Museum is complete until we've spent at least an hour in the dinosaur section.

First Big Snow!!

Danville saw about four or five inches of snowfall last night, and Marcus dragged Mommy and Daddy outside to play. Mommy is behind the camera here, working hard as usual.

Not much of a snowball snow, but the sledding is great.

And it's nice to have a sledding hill in your driveway as long as you look both ways before you go careening into the street.

It's way more fun with a push.

Today, we sat outside in 90 degree heat and carved our Fall pumpkin. It doesn't feel like it's time yet, but it's only a few weeks 'til Halloween!!

It's A Girl!?

We had the second ultrasound last week, and the tech said she 'couldn't say 100 percent certain, but I'm pretty sure it's a girl.' Guess we won't be painting the nursery pink! At any rate, here are some ultrasound shots. Click on them to enlarge.

These are the money shots. Enlarge them, and you can see the arrows pointing to the supposed female genitalia. Andy thinks he noticed she's a girl before the ultrasound tech. The tech kept saying, "I can't see the boy or girl parts because this kid isn't cooperating," however, the baby's feet were up behind its head the whole time. What else do you want?

This is Heather's favorite. She seems to be yawning. Already bored.

State Fair 2007

Hi, everyone! First, an update on the baby. A checkup this week went great. We (including Marcus) heard the baby's heart "beeping," as Marcus said. It was a strong, fast heartbeep, just like Marcus had. Uh-oh. Another boy?

Later, we took in the fair in spite of the insane heat. Here are a few pics. Click on them to enlarge if you'd like.

One-thousand, three-hundred sixty pounds of cheese. It will be ground up and used as animal feed after the Fair.

Another of our favorites was the horse show. Afterward, we went to the horse barn and looked at the draft horses.

Moving Blues

Hello all,
we just wanted to let you know that we haven't abandoned this site. We are still in the process of moving and we don't have daily access to internet, yet. Hopefully by the end of July we will break out the digital camera and post lots of new pictures for you to look at!

In baby news, we found out today that our new addition is coming along just fine. Our due date is February 3rd, 2008. The ultrasound was done in 4D, which was pretty exciting! I'm going to try to get some of the pictures on the blog.

This is a picture of Metra the Dimetrodon, Heather's Mother's Day present from Marcus. I asked Marcus what he thought Mommy might like for Mother's Day. He thought for a minute and said, 'hey, Mommy's a dinosaur girl, isn't she?' I said 'yeah, I think so.' 'Well, then,' he said, 'let's get her a girl-colored dinosaur!' We hit the dollar store and found the perfect dinosaur.

This is a strange place in which dinosaurs still roam the earth and four-year-olds aspire to careers in paleontology (which, as Heather and I have learned, is someone who studies the fossils of dinosaurs). We think you'll like it here, but beware. Marcus' favorite dinosaur, the 'Teen Rex,' is often fierce and frightening.
